Multi-Institutional Study โ€” Now Recruiting

Robotic Surgery OPI Scoring

Share your MyIntuitive kinematic data to receive objective, automated performance scores for each robotic case of inguinal hernia repair and cholecystectomy.

What This Is

We are building and validating an automated scoring system for robotic inguinal hernia repair and cholecystectomy using console kinematic data (Objective Performance Indicators, OPIs).

๐Ÿ“Š

Task-Level Scores

Based on each procedural task (e.g., flap dissection, closure of peritoneal incision, mesh placement).

๐ŸŽฏ

8 Domain Scores

Comprehensive assessment across eight performance dimensions.

๐Ÿ†

Composite Score

An overall score per task and per case synthesizing all domains.

Time Efficiency Economy of Motion Workspace Utilization Camera Control Hand Repositioning Energy Application Console Attention Movement Speed

To ensure the scoring system is generalizable across different programs, case mixes, and training environments, we are aiming to involve multiple institutions.

Who Can Participate

You're eligible if you meet all three of the following:

  • Perform robotic inguinal hernia repairs or cholecystectomies
  • Have access to a da Vinci 5 (DV5) system and the MyIntuitive app
  • Are willing to export/share the required MyIntuitive data (tutorial provided)

Benefits & Outputs

If you participate, you can receive:

๐Ÿ“‹

Score Reports per Surgery

Objective task-level, domain-level, and composite scores for each case.

๐Ÿ“ˆ

Progress Tracking

Visualize your learning curve and trajectory across cases.

๐Ÿ”

Domain-Specific Feedback

See which skills are improving vs. plateauing.

๐ŸŽฎ

Simulation Recommendations

Personalized suggestions on what to practice to improve.

Note: This is an educational/research score derived from kinematics; it is not a clinical quality measure and is not intended for credentialing decisions in this study.

What Data You Would Share

โœ“ Data Source

MyIntuitive app exports โ€” kinematic and performance data from your robotic cases.

โœ• We Do NOT Need

  • Patient/surgeon identifiers
  • Video
  • MRNs, names, or DOBs
